The Health Care Network Project

The Health Care Network project here called HCN, with its headquarters in Belo Horizonte/Brazil, was born from a fortunate coincidence of intentions between the European Community, the City Hall of Belo Horizonte and the Brazilian Ministry of Health. It has been developing since october/03 in the City Halls of Belo Horizonte/MG, Porto Alegre/RS, Recife/PE and Aracaju/SE.

The main objectives of the HCN project are to:
a) Increase meeting opportunities and exchanges regarding public digital system models created for the heath of citizens.
b) Evaluate if information technology accelerates the development processes of public sanitary policies and if it improves the access of citizens to the public sanitary services.
c) Individualise and to experience digital systems for future public health services, extendable to all of Brazil.

In long terms, it aims to promote in all the Brazilian territory the use of digital technology as an accelerating and improving factor in the health development of citizens.
The technological project was divided in 04 sub-projects for better evaluation and support. They are: Digital scheduling of medical appointments, telemedicine, the creation of a database for the health of workers, the implementation of electronic records of citizens.
