The Appointment Scheduling System - SISREG, elaborated in the HCN project, aims to establish a scheduling system of medical appointments and examinations coming from 138 health centres of the City Hall of Belo Horizonte and from around 600 towns in the state of Minas Gerais.

The implementation of the specialised appointment scheduling system of the health department of Belo Horizonte - SMSa, is happening within two perspectives: the first refers to the use of the software provided by the Health Ministry (SISREG) that is been adapted to the city's reality and needs; the second involves the exchange of experiences with Italian institutions, made possible from the @LIS project, in a way that it guarantees part of the infra-structure.

In this implementation process it was established a co-operative partnership among the technical crew of PRODABEL( Information technology and information firm of the city of Belo Horizonte), the appointment scheduling centre, the Health Department cabinet, the SMSa Health Network project and the European Union through the @LIS line.
That management including technical, administrative and financial aspects played an important role for the project success.

The funding of these projects is made possible through the investments of the SMSa, agreements with the Health Ministry (MS), National Social and Economic Development Bank (BNDES) and the European Union, Through the @LIS line.

Through the implementation system, each Health Centre will have a computer connected to the Appointment Scheduling Centre and will be able to schedule, electronically, specialised medical appointments for their users. The SISREG, besides permitting a well balanced distribution of these appointments between units establishing quotas for each one, it also enables a clinical analysis of each patient and the prioritisation that each individual needs.

All appointments in the sub-specialities of ophthalmology are being scheduled through the SISREG that has its full implementation forecasted for the second semester of 2005.
